THE GRATITUDE LIST

The Gratitude List

Hi All!
Sorry I have been so absent lately, things are just extremely busy for me right now. I have been working with a business coach and he is helping me as a person, not just a businessman. With that being said, I want to share with you one of the exercises he has been having me do daily which I think has helped me a lot deal with the stresses of every day life. Each day for 21 days, I write down 3 things I am grateful for. That's it! Why is this important? We all tend to hold onto the negative things in life, instead of stepping back and appreciating everything that is good in our lives. I encourage you to try this, and remind yourself everything you have in your life that you are grateful for. It can be anything and everything from your health, to friends on this board, a beating heart, a roof over your head, etc. I think you can all find this helpful in reeling in the emotions that can cause us undue stress each day. Make your own list and post it here for the next 21 days. Can you commit to that?

My daily list:
1) God
2) My Family
3) My Health

Lets see yours now 🙂

Today I'm grateful ~

that due to the nature of living in this house we always have a roll of paper towels within quick reach ~ like for spit coke on keyboards 🙂

that my driveway got shoveled out last night

Thankful to be cancer free.

Thankful to be boiling the last of the sprouting Jan 28 potatoes.

Thankful for a coarse snow that shoveled easily.
(Not as easily as when Mrs Dave does it, but more easily than the snow she has shoveled!)

I was perhaps unduly influenced by two things there:

I have a little book, which I have so far continued to keep as I clean out the bookshelf,
A Short Guide to a Happy Life, by Anna Quindlen.

Because of my "Scooter the Cat" mentality, I've never read the whole thing but I read a page or two now and again. Last night I took it off the shelf and on page 45 I read:

" And think of life as a terminal illness, because, if you do, you will live it with joy and passion, as it ought to be lived."

The "terminal illness" thing was hanging around in my mind this morning as I was observing the varied behaviors of snowflakes.

Driving down to the ground like a broken plane trailing flame and smoke. Dancing around in whorling eddies. Kamikaze snowflakes charging the window pane like blind birds. I told Mrs Dave I couldn't go out because I was afraid of the kamikaze snowflakes.

Some odd merger of all that is where the sentence came from. Glad you enjoyed it.

I am grateful for the synchronicity of having an old post of mine bumped this morning.

Today I really need the advice I gave to someone else some weeks ago!
