Oh Tillie it broke my heart when I read that your hoarder threw out your sewing machine! A gift from your father on your 18th birthday that you used a lot! A very precious possession indeed! What he did went beyond meanness. It was a total disregard for something close to your heart. Tearing that away from you and killing one of your kitties at one point kills some of your very soul. Forgive me but I hate him for that. 🙁

I picked up a few children's books from a "free" pile after a garage sale had ended. I believe I know someone who could use them.

How exciting, new sewing machine!!! I still have my singer I bought in 1966 for my sewing class in high school!!! I have newer one that doesn't work as well as old one. Looking forward to sewing this winter when craft room is clean and organized. Will be fun to hear what you sew Tillie.

Thank you Roxie 😀 Really wish I had a camera.

Tillie, I am delighted for you that you got another sewing machine! Yes. And that was mean of him to get rid of the older one. But you came out ahead, anyway. And I have visions of the kitten carrying around his "prey." How cute. Can you take pictures?

I used to have a sewing machine, one my Father gave me when I was 18 years old. I used to sew a LOT, but without a sewing machine I only sewed a few things by hand. Yesterday my neighbor came over to visit and told me about her new sewing machine. Very nice one. 🙂 I have a sewing machine again!!! I still will not sew anything for him ever ever again. 😛

DH bought gardening supplies, he'll probably use them: 2 small flats of flowers one mini rake [we have no rakes currently] one plastic watering can [could use hose] one bow saw [have only keyhole saw, not even handsaw] work gloves [I have some "somewhere" - not helpful] Good: I did not buy plastic cups, instead challenged myself to locate and use ones that are in storage.

I am in the midwest and too far away to help. But we are always here on the site to offer encouragement when you need it. I understand about bringing more "stuff" home. It is hard to see other people throwing away new and unused things. Stay strong. I, too, live in a very small house with no attic, no basement, no storage shed. I always have to ask myself "Do I really need this? Where am I going to put it? What am I willing to give up to bring this in the house?"

Judy, I'm too far north of you for meeting in person, but we often buddy system simultaneous cleaning sessions using the online chat -- maybe that would help for you, too.

As I acquired the following, I am thinking, " you need to get RID of stuff, not bring more home>>>vowed to discard an item or two for each acquisition (haven't yet discarded but need to asap and de-clutter cuz I can't even let the energy company in to evalualte (rescheduled for next wk)appt to eval which FREE upgrades and repairs I qualify for can be made to my place, which I need (now retired living on social security), cuz the 40 yr old very small place I just inherited has not only former deceased husband's belongings, but my own hoard, and I NEED to gt the place de-cluttered. Really need encouragement. If anyone here is in the San Diego area, maybe we could help each other declutter(I am able to be effective with someone else, but not able to be objective and stay focused without digressing on my own stuff)-If u live near San Diego, pls post...

Good job ladies, I am so glad you are all here and posting. I am not a real acquisitioner and I rarely leave the house but yesterday I went to the farm for family dinner and had a great time and was pretty much relaxed, got back late for the meeting but I thought it was at 9... it was still going on though for quite a while and it was wonderful. 1 - plate of food
| Sally | Posted: 04 August 2013 - 06:31 PM |
Yesterday I bought a big package of cheesesticks, a quart of 1/2 and 1/2 and salad mix. I mention the food because I tended - like to say in past tense, but...to buy too much, and like now i am trying to give away a lot since i am low carbing it, but seeing that some of the stuff i am trying to give away expired quite a while ago. I also bought a fleece jacket at Costco and 4 pairs of tennies at Famous Footwear - buy one get one 1/2 off + 20% coupon, but it was tax free weekend for the clothing and shoes. They always have the buy 1 get 1 1/2 off + 20%, but the tax free is but once per year

Bugs are freebies and you can list them or not.;) Went to WallyWorld this morning. So many other things that I did NOT buy. 😀

[Oops, I should have posted my list on the other thread. Sorry about that. Does acquisition, however unknowing, of the live beatle count? :)/size]
| Roxie | Posted: 04 August 2013 - 03:54 PM |
Kara I think for many of us, food is not an issue. It may be that some folks will want/need to indicate foods they bring is to hold themselves accountable. Also, if someone is a food hoarder, it would be a good idea, especially if they were working to purge and downsize the hoard. Barb, good job! I'm only going to list a little today because I am nowhere done for today, but: 2 dead lightbulbs 1 living beatle (not Beatle(I wish))(from the bathtub, released the poor chump outdoors) a half garbage bag of paper (I'm sorting old old mail) 2 garbage bags full
