I haven't been on here in a while. We still live in filth, and 4 years ago a situation so traumatic happened that I need to look for counseling.

My wife falsely accused me of multiple crimes after I gave her an ultimatum: I am allowed to clean the house or I call child services. I went to court for several months based on those false charges, had my name besmirched to friends, and had to handle my dad wasting away and dying from cancer during that time.

I've suffered many types of abuse, manipulation, gaslighting, and other harm during my marriage, as well as constant concern about my kids' health and safety while being forced to live in this filth. What kind of therapy can combat this? Any keywords I should search, or places I can go?

I know this isn't a "how to help a hoarder" post, but I don't know where to go for help. If I need to go elsewhere I will, and any advice would be welcomed.

Hello Ralph 🙂

So very sorry to hear how it has gotten so much
worse for you.

At the top of the page are links to counselors/therapists.
"National Resources"
They are rumored to specialize in hoarding situations.
Maybe in the link "Help For Families?"
Perhaps even call Steri-Clean and ask them what's available in your area?

Do you have an attorney?
You should have one to help protect you from the lies and possible other dirty antics.
Someone to document the situation from your perspective.

I honestly do understand how you have been besmirched, manipulated, abused and accused of crimes.
I have been too, he even killed my cat.

This message board is not just for the people who hoard or squalor, it's a place for us too.

Have you ever visited the
Children Of Hoarders" website?
Most all of these now adults have been to therapy of some sort to help get over their trauma.
They may also have advice to help you and your kids.

My most sincere on the passing of your Father (((HUG)))

Best wishes (((HUG)))
You can come here any time for tea and sympathy.
