Ok, I have been dealing with a neighbor who is a major hoarder, rotting food, old cloths, books, garbage, you name it is over there. For the past couple years, every fall, we start getting rats from this place. We finally have Dep involved, but now this woman has become a danger to my family. She stalks us.. has harassment and stalking charges on her as we are going to court next month. She tells people I am a pedophile, she has been ban from our local church for saying this in front of small children including my own grandkids, she lets my animals out of the fences or cages, she was hit last year and fined for trespass. I have purchased handguns for the first time in my life as I am afraid of what she is capable of. She walks in front of my house daily and takes pictures of me and the kids. Her new thing is letting her little pissing dog loose and it runs over here and pisses on the kids toys. She had two charges for that also pending. We have called ever agency from here to kingdom come and they are worthless. I am praying that if Dep follows through and starts fining her she will eventually loose the houses. She had 2 house on her property, several other buildings, cars and all are filled to the brim. The houses are beyond saving I believe. Sadly, I used to be friends with this woman and felt sorry for her. After all the other bs, we have dealt with, I no longer feel sorry for her and really don't care how she leaves as long as she is gone. I have lived in my home for 23 year and I think it is sad that someone who is so attached to nothing but garbage is terrorizing us for wanting it cleaned up. I am so disgusted with the whole thing and I am beyond wanting to help her anymore. She has turned my heart cold and I hate what she has done to my family. Just now that if you try to get it cleaned up these people are mentally imbalanced and will attack you and become nasty horrible people.

It was not my approach till I refused to continue to help her. She actually lived with us for almost 3 winters because she lived in her car. She went after our local food bank and when I found out what she was doing, we asked her to leave. Then I became the bad guy. Her son was working with us too and her daughter in law and him are as done as I am with it all. However they live far away and I am in her direct line of fire. At this point, I am not being nice and I will do whatever I have to to get it cleaned up. The view from my dining room window is a mound of black plastic bags that a bear has torn to shreds. Dep said there are over 200 bags of food, and other garbage there. It is beyond helping at this point. Besides bringing critters that are not wanted, the smell is horrible in the summer.
After 5 years of nothing but more empty promises and now, the other bs on top of it there is no nice way to deal with this. I am on a first name basis with cps, the state police and many others that she keeps sending to my house. I have never dealt with a person quite like her before and I pray I never have to again.

Sorry your neighbor is like this.
But not all people who hoard are.
I have known plenty of mean, nasty & possibly dangerous people who do not hoard.
We can't paint every hoarder with the same brush because people are individuals and not at all alike.
Maybe your tactics when you tried to "help" her were the wrong approach and she felt threatened, terrorized and belittled by your attempts?
I am not a hoarder but I have met a lot of hoarders and have found most of them to be lovely, caring, intelligent and wonderful people.
