I have used springcleaning twice. Super nice woman named Esther (I think she is the owner) comes and does assessment and gives estimate.

My system was I was sure to be absent when her crew came in, and I instructed to NOT carry out any garbage. (I checked the garbage myself later for things i didn't want to be thrown away). i was too embarrassed to be there when they did their work. They basically organized the place and made it look better. This basic change of landscape can be a great help to someone's functioning and mental health (At least one hoarding book I've read recommended a method where you accomplish the visual stuff first, as opposed to organizing your drawers and stuff). I did end up not sure where some items were and eventually pulling stuff out of where it was placed, but still the service was a great help.

btw, I was in Brooklyn the first time.
