I'm looking for advice. My mother-in-law has been hoarding for 30 years. We finally moved her out of the house into an appartment but now her house is in such bad shape because animals have gotten in the house and have made a real stinking mess of it. My husband and I just want to gut the place. My nephew has stepped up and said he will take on the job. We are planning to get a big dumpster and just have him and some other workers to just trash everything but my concern is that there are animals and their mess now and I'm concerned for my nephew's and the worker's safety. Can anyone provide some insight on the safety issues and what we can do to prevent anyone from getting sick in the process? Also I'm considering just hiring a professional but I talked to one hoarder removal company and they told me it could cost between $4K and $65K! Yikes! Does anyone have a recommendation for a reasonable priced company in Houston?

At the top of this page is a link called
"National Resources".
Click on that then click on your state to find a list of companies in your area.
Call and ask for an estimate and if they are willing to work with you on the financing.
Good luck and best wishes. 🙂

I am facing a big project- cleaning out my estranged father's home in Houston - he recently had a debilitatiing stroke. I've always known he was a messy guy, but when I saw his living situation after the stroke, he's been hoarding and living without electricity for years. He can't go home again due to his medical needs, i need to find a long-term care facility and I need to find a way to clear out his home and quickly! He rents and has next to no assets or cash. Is there a service that can help and be able to help us out financially? I'm young, just starting out and unable to afford what looks like a big and expensive project. Does anyone have advice for a service in Houston?
