Hello fellow "keepers" (I still can't get comfortable with the label "hoarder"). While we all "know" that having too many flammable materials is dangerous and that safe exit is everything in a fire, we are often to overwhelmed to take action. Even if you cannot conquer your mountains of things, you CAN address fire safety TODAY!!! Since "keepers" have a lot more things that could spread fire and emit toxic fumes, PLEASE, PLEASE at least get some safety devices to save your life. You cannot afford these you say? Well, look around you... you "afforded" all that. Please don't be another statistic of someone who dies of smoke inhalation (did you know that of those who pass in a fire, 2/3 of them don't die from being burned, but smoke inhalation??) I will be posting some resources I found for affordable supplies. NOTE: Neither I nor the owner/host of this site are personally or professionally endorsing these products. I am only posting resources you can look into to begin educating yourself on what suits your situation. Do your homework on these products... read reviews, check references, go the BBB site and look for complaints.... The sources I publish are from long standing companies, but use your own discretion when purchasing. JUST DO IT, please.

Here is another source for a mask. Note: not all "smoke" masks can save you from the deadly effects of toxic fumes. DISCLAIMER: Neither I nor the owner of this site are making any endorsements, warranties, or representations about these products. I am just posting some resources I have found to help you get started on your research. Use discretion when purchasing: ask the seller questions, check the BBB board.

Here is another great source for masks:

Please remember, neither the owner of this site nor I are endorsing any product mentioned on this site by the owner, myself or any other message board participants. I am just trying to help fellow "keepers" become aware of how critical, yet fairly easy, fire safety is.

Here is a source for escape masks and other fire safety/escape devices. Again, neither I nor the owner/host of this site are endorsing this (or any other) products listed on this entire site. The references to the products are just to help you get started in your own research.
