I AM “FROZEN”

I am “frozen”

I can't throw anything out, even trash. My life is so miserable and I do not know where to turn. I am a senior with limited funds and have not been able to clean or throw anything out for many years - I feel "frozen" and just stare at the mess unable to do anything.

I just came across this board and am so glad you posted. I feel frozen also, but am determined to start in one little area today.

Margaret: If there is a local senior center where you live, you might try getting in touch with them and seeing if they have any programs to help. I know the center near where I live has a grant-funded program to help seniors with hoarding issues -- but unfortunately I am "too young" (57) to be able to participate.

I agree with starting SUPER small -- like using a plastic sack from the grocery store and put things in it like empty food cartons, used kleenexs, and the like. You have already taken a BIG step just by coming to this board, so congratulations on that!!

Hi Margaret 🙂

A good way to start is by taking little baby steps at first.
We suggest that you get a small bag and gather up any obvious trash around the area where you sit.
Take the bag outside.
YEA! you have begun!
Feel good about this accomplishment.
When you are ready, fill another bag with obvious trash and take it outside.
We start with obvious trash because it is easier to let go of.
Please feel free to join us in the "daily Chat" thread where you will get a lot of support.
