So you have rats.
Rats destroy everything. They chew through electric wires and even cement walls.
I know this because I have battled rats before too.
Worst of all is they carry diseases.
Anything they have pooped or peed on is not salvageable.
It is considered biohazardous waste and needs to be thrown away.
Please wear proper clothing, shoes, gloves and face masks when clearing out items where the rats have been.
The best way to proceed is to hire a dumpster and start filling it.
Once the clutter is removed it will be easier to eradicate all the rats.
A pest control service could start eradicating the rats before you start to clear out the house.
You say there are children. They should not be in there until the house is cleaned up. Too dangerous for them to be exposed to the rat germs and any chemicals used to eradicate them.

Are you ready to do all the hard work to fix this problem?
Could you afford to hire a company to clear the clutter, clean and help with rat removal?

You will have to accept that many of your personal possessions are ruined now and cannot be made safe again.
I know that's hard to accept.

Do you have any family or friends who can and would help you?
Are your kids adults?
Would you allow them to come in to help?
I know letting in others is hard and you would be embarrassed but I see no other way out of this for you.

This CAN be fixed. You CAN get your life back.
