By beautiful daughter is 27, single mom to a 2and 1/2 year old,who is my heart, has numerous psych issues that need to be dealt with.
The immediate problem is bedbugs in her room facilitated by her hoarding. We've hired an exterminator at great expense but have had to push back the date twice now due to lack of progress on her part.
She's destroying the rest of my family and me in particular... I've resorted to extreme self-destructive behavior in past to cope and while clear headed now, totally perplexed as to whatl to do next.
Pleading, tough love, screeching.... Even my nervous breakdown and suicidal ideation over the situation has not gotten through, nothing works. it's like her brain is incapable of doing more than moving her stuff around.
I CANNOT tolerate this situation any longer and am at the end of my rope!!!

Desperate in suburban Phila.

Hello My Black Hole,

Right now her brain really is incapable of doing nothing more than just moving her stuff around.
This is called "churning".

The first thing you really need to do is get yourself into therapy.
Honest! I have been where you are. I live with a hoarder.

Your daughter needs a therapist or professional organizer who specializes in and has experience with hoarders/hoarding. They will teach her decluttering and organizational skills.

Bed bugs are a serious problem and you can't wait to have them treated.
You should have her help you and others bag & box up all her possessions so that the areas can be treated.

Best wishes & good luck
