Hi everyone. I was in a Debtors Anonymous meeting which focuses on solvency & clutter, and a member shared about hoarding sites on the internet. I just googled "hoarding treatment" and found this site.
I am a 41 year old compulsive shopper, keeper of everything and hoarder. I have 2 kids and one of my older son's father texted me asking if his son can come over for a play date. I said "yes', because I didn't know how to say "no" AND because my son should be able to have friends over...
I am in a total PANIC. I have 8 days... the place is a disaster. My kids toys are everywhere, they have actually FALLEN and tripped over things because the floor is completely covered with clothes, toys, pencils, papers, just everything. I need any and all support, I feel like I will have a breakdown if I don't change. I can't live like this anymore. I am deeply ashamed of myself, my life, my home 🙁

Hi Starbaby,

I understand how you feel. My place is a disaster too. I have been told to start in one little spot and try not to let the mess overwhelm you. I know it's hard to do. For the upcoming play date, I would just clear out the room the kids will be in. Just do the best you can and don't beat yourself up. You won't be able to get it all done but you can start changing your ways for the future if you keep telling yourself how you want your life to be and believe you can do it. You can do it! I am starting to get my place cleaned up little by little.

There is a chat group tonight, Sunday at 5PM PST and Tues at 6PM PST. Just click on the "online support group" to the right -----> Check it ahead to make sure you can get on. You may have to download a new version of Java (I did). You can go to the Java site to get it.

Hope to see you there, Beverly
