LOST AND FOUND

Lost and Found

I decided to make a thread where we can post things we have lost in the hoard (because there are so many things I KNOW I have, but can't find them anywhere!) and then post a celebration when we find them!

This will be an encouragement NOT to just be frustrated, and NOT to go buy a replacement item... but to search for what we know we have.

I'll start.

Lost things:

- the handwritten recipe for vegetable chili that Teen wants to make together, but I can't find it

- the cord to my small TV that was on a desk downstairs, but when it got moved, the cord was lost somewhere. So I can't use the TV.

- one or two bins full of children's books, that I would love to be reading with my grandchildren, but I can't find them.

Those are the three things I'd really love to find. I have looked for them but not REALLY searched. I WILL find them!!

Lila, I will pray to Saint Anthony for you - he's the patron Saint for finding lost things. There have been times the item in question has been placed right where I would find it.

Dredging this thread back up...

I have LOST a letter from relatives in Europe, that I got maybe 20 years ago. It has photos in it, plus their names and addresses, phone numbers and an invitation to come visit them.

My cousin and I now want to go visit. But where is the letter so I can contact them?? All I remember is it was in a small envelope, maybe more than one letter, and I think I may have put it into the pocket of a binder that has our family history in it (that part is foggy, it may just be loose somewhere).

I have sorted bins of papers, bins of photos, done a cursory look through stacks of kids' school and sports photos, looked in all my drawers and shelves. I have looked in all the closets.

I went in the garage 3 or 4 times, spent a lot of energy dragging bins and totes out and looking through them, but nothing!!

Where the heck could it be? I know I would not discard it. It is in this house somewhere. This is time sensitive...

Now I am thinking, did I leave it in Son's room in the closet in a bin? Because I cannot find the bin that it might have been in.

This is so frustrating that it makes me want to purge everything!!!

I lost a check from work. It's a small one, but it is the third one I have lost and the third time work has asked me why a check was not cashed. The first time, I found it. The second time, they had to reissue it. This time, I am embarrassed and don't want this to keep happening. And yes I DO have a place I keep checks. I don't know what happened to it.

I have already searched the usual places but today I HAVE to find it or exhaust all efforts. I will be going piece by piece through one entire side of my bedroom, my office box at home, and the bar/counter pile.

I had LOST the charger to a brand new little handheld vacuum Son gave me for Christmas (3 months ago!)

Today I FOUND the charger buried under piles on the kitchen/bar counter! I am so happy. I had wondered if I had thrown it out by mistake or something. I put it in my bedroom and will plug it in so I can charge my little vacuum and use it for dust bunnies.

I found the teas I was given for Christmas!! Yeah!!! I have never even had a cup of the tea because it was so lost. So today I had a cup of the pumpkin chai and it was lovely.

They were in a bag, in a box, in a pile, in my bedroom.

I still haven't fixed the things I thought I was going to fix back in early January, sigh...

But I haven't totally forgotten about them either, so there's hope.

I had two ex boyfriends. The first one had an easy recipe for Swedish meatballs. The second had a simple recipe for chili. Both recipes were very basic (suitable for a picky eater palate like mine) and at the time easy to remember even without looking.

But then for whatever reason I let years elapse without making them. Over time, I became less sure if I remembered the ingredients and the correct proportions. I had typed them out at one time, and they were in a binder with my other recipes. But then the binder got disassembled, perhaps I was intending to retype them (many were from before computer days). And some went missing, and I think whatever still exists is in a bag of miscellaneous jumbled papers.

Come to think of it, I now have the scanner. It can do OCR reading of typed text. That would speed things up.

lol- I think this goes on CM's "I fixed it" thread.

I found some stick on Velcro on the counter of doom ,- and I used it to fix all of Beans cut apart food that was missing Velcro. He's going to be really pleased, because he loves his cut apart food.

Found:
Earrings I was worrying about.

"Lost" necklace I broke by getting it tangled in my hair - old, cultured pearls and quartz, but badly strung and bought at a thrift store years ago for $12 in a fancy box with matching earrings.

I confess to putting all the bits back in the box and the box back in the drawer.

I found something lost today!

I had LOST a pair of jeans that fit well. I had not seen them in at least two weeks! I looked and looked with no luck.

Today I was sorting piles in my bedroom and Ta-da! There they were, clean and folded!

I made a spot for them in a dresser drawer.

Still looking for:
totes of books
cord to TV
bag of loose leaf tea from dil

I also LOST sight of my bedroom floor for a few weeks, but found it today. LOL.
